    Default unable to download photo from iphone 6s : digikam, shotwall and darktable segfault

    I have an iphone 6s .
    It has the latest 12.1.1 ios version .
    All applications that handle photos download usually will segfault when trying to access to the iphone : digikam, shotwall and darktable segfault .
    With opensuse 42.2, everything worked fine.
    I tried to install hardware repository new version of *imobile* , but no success.
    What to do ?

    Hi
    Assuming a USB connection, can you browse the DCIM/ directory via your file manager? It should mount with gvfs as long as the phone is unlocked and computer trusted?

    Then just drag/drop where you want them....

    In my case, I can see all the photos via nautilus (iphone 6s here) or in;

    Code:
     /run/user/1000/gvfs/gphoto2\:host\=%5Busb%nnnnn%nnnnn%nn/DCIM/100APPLE/
    Standard Leap 15 install (macbook3,1).

    i use kde and i can browse the DCIM with dolphin, but my purpose is to use a tool like digikam or any other as quoted before, so that i can see and choose the photos i want to download.

    BTW, i rebooted on opensuse 42.2 and i could download the photos with the old digikam.

    It is another regression on opensuse 15.0 . Is there a known bug about this ?

    Hi
    OK, so not an underlying connection issue, so would seem application specific.

    So can you start from the command line with a debug option? I tried shotwell here and it's working fine, see the photos and can select/import.

    I am reasonably sure that the problem is that Leap 15.0 has an enhanced version of MTP which uses more of the USB connections. Many USB cables made for cameras are made with a limited number of connections to save on costs. I have three different cables; one works perfectly with Leap 15.0; the others do not. My friends have had the same experience - just changing to a cable known to work solves the problem whatever the device.

    It is true that digikam does not segfault with the original iphone cable, whereas i could download correctly with the other non official cable with the digikam from opensuse 42.2 .
    __But__ , there are still no photos shown by digikam and there is no possibility to download any photos from the iphone.

My friends have had the same experience - just changing to a cable known to work solves the problem whatever the device.
    Can i find another older or more efficient version of MTP somewhere ?

    NB : there are no messages on the iphone to accept the computer, whereas there are such messages when i connect the iphone to any other computer .

    Hi
    It could be the USB port your connecting too and the driver...

    If you plug in the device and run the command;
    Code:
    lsusb -t
    Which driver is it using and the port speed...

    The other option is to create a test user, login and does the issue exist for the test user?

    AFAIK the trust computer should only show up once...?
