Tumbleweed system now crashes to the login page whenever I launch an application

Subsequent to a routine update my Tumbleweed system now crashes to the login page whenever I launch an application.



Yaquake works and I have full control over my system from here. I suspect a graphics cause.


Any ideas?

I am not sure what you mean with a "routine update", but I hope you are aware that Tumbleweed can only be updated using

zypper dup

Yes - I only ever update using that method. I have used Tumbleweed for several years and can fix many issues myself however, this one has me stumped.

One possible cause, is that you might have conflicting libraries.

Please provide the output from

zypper lr -d

and use a CODE box to report that output (the # icon in the editor).

I suggest that you disable all repos except the last 6 in your list. Okay, maybe also keep the NVIDIA repo enabled. And then do a "zypper dup". See if that fixes the problem (it should). Then you can think about re-enabling some of those repos. But with that many repos, you are asking for problems.

When I was new to openSUSE (coming from slackware and solaris), I was confused by repos. It takes a while to get used to how they work.
