Default "Error parsing PCC subspaces from PCCT" on Leaf 15

I installed Leap 15 on a Dell Precision 5820, which came installed with Ubuntu 16. I am using a legacy BIOS (not EFI) boot, even if the computer is EFI capable (and Ubuntu was in fact installed with an EFI bootloader). The disk also contains a 5Gb partition with some Dell diagnostics, which I thought better to keep. The system is fine, except that at boot it shows the error:

"Error parsing PCC subspaces from PCCT"

From some posts on Fedora it is suggested that this is a kernel bug: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1435837#c82

Other websites suggest that it might be related to the (possibly) mixed bios/efi boot.

Did anyone else experienced the same problem with Leaf 15?

    Thanks

Does not appear to be a real error reading the thread you referenced (note comment 73). The bug is the reporting of a condition as an error which is not an error but has to do between differences in AMD and Intel CPUs.

Out side of the reported error are you experiencing problems do to this reporting?

Apparently I am not experiencing any related problem, but I was alerted by the fact that posts like these ones:

    https://askubuntu.com/questions/6705...c-probe-failed

    https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2326630

suggest that it might be due to an inconsistency between EFI and BIOS legacy boot modes, instead. And indeed when installing I had to switch to legacy BIOS boot in the bios.

So before reinstalling strictly using EFI (which the machine is capable of), I wanted to understand if it was a more common issue. Just to avoid reinstalling everything and then get the same error...

Seeing this on Leap 15, EFI booting, clean install. Not linked to Legacy booting, apparently, so reinstalling with EFI might not be worth it.
I have seen no visible consequences so far, so I just ignored it.
Since it is claimed to be solved starting with kernel 4.16.12, trying a current Tumbleweed Live DVD with kernel 4.17.x might check if there is something specific to your HW.

FYI I just tried to fire up last Live TW with kernel 4.17.4 and got the same "Error parsing PCC subspaces from PCCT" error on boot.
So at least the openSUSE kernel is not yet fixed.

Thanks a lot. Just for the sake of completeness, would you mind posting here the output of "parted /dev/sda print" (supposing sda is your boot disk)?

I don't understand the relevance, but here it is at the time of testing:
    Code:

Thanks. The point is that I was willing to see if you also had a bootable partition with the recovery images. This is not clearly the problem, however. I deleted it and I still have the same problem. So it is a bug which will be fixed in the next version of the kernel. Thanks again for the information.
