I don't recognise that screen. Did you try text mode install yet? (Assuming graphics related issue)

[F3 ]Video Mode - Select various graphical display modes for the installation. Select Text Mode if the graphical installation causes problems.

If you must use rufus you must select a binary copy, otherwise it may modify the ISO.

Hello dear Deano Ferarri and gogalthorp,

first of all many many thanks for the quick reply.

note the original system on the notebook is ms Win 10

the OpenSUSE-Version should be signed digital by Microsoft - since CSM matters.

The stick should have GPT-partitions (minimum 5 GB) - starting (booting) as a Live-Version

btw: OpenSuse Leap is told to support UEFI und Secure Boot since version 14

    What do you say ?!

The information you've supplied so far is sketchy. Are you trying to install via live media (as opposed to the full installation ISO)?

btw: OpenSuse Leap is told to support UEFI und Secure Boot since version 14
There was no version 14, but yes openSUSE does support Secure Boot. I have no idea what might be wrong with the USB media you have prepared. Did you copy the ISO as a binary (bit for bit) copy as gogalthorp already asked?

The file "shim.efi" from openSUSE is signed by Microsoft. On the boot media, that would be file "bootx64.efi".

The stick should have GPT-partitions (minimum 5 GB) - starting (booting) as a Live-Version
The installer stick, if prepared as recommended, uses legacy partitioning, and UEFI is supposed to still support that.

OpenSUSE has actually supported secure-boot since version 12.3. And it supported UEFI before that.

... as others are hinting at here, you apparently have not created the USB installer properly.

You need to follow the openSUSE directions (ie: as gogalthorpe, deano, and nrickert are saying).

good evning dear Fraser_Bell, nrickert, deano_ferrar, gogalthorp

    first of all - many many thanks for the quick answer;

And yes - many thanks for the complete instructions on the openSUSE site on how to create a bootable USB install media, This is very very helpful.
i am glad that you showed me how to create a DVD.

Well - at the moment it is not booting: Since it's not booting i may have a closer look atz the installation / and gthe settings in the Server.

BTW; Chances may be necessary in order - since the laptop is trying to use secure boot, and you didn't follow the instructions for UEFI/secure-boot. Either do that, or turn it off in BIOS.

BTW - well if i try to run a Linux Live DVD - ( eg. Knoooer 8.2 ) i have also no luck - every approach and trial ends up in a screen that shows bios-mode

well - what can i do noiw,,,
