Thread: /etc/issue is a template after upgrade from 42.3

Default /etc/issue is a template after upgrade from 42.3

I did the online upgrade from 42.3 to 15. Afterward, my /etc/issue file seems to be some kind of default template:
    Code:
    Welcome to \S - Kernel \r (\l).
Any suggestions for how to get it to contain useful information?

It was always a template, though with more information. It purpose is the display banner for a login session.

Perhaps you are really looking for "/etc/os-release".

You can put anything you please in /etc/motd. Whatever it contains will display immediately before the initial shell prompt following successful login.

    /etc/issue is now a link.

There are at least two threads here about that (and the problems that go with it).
