My PC is an old desktop. I installed Leap 15 with XFCE (openSUSE-Leap-15.0-KDE-Live-x86_64-Snapshot17.7-Media.iso) from a USB stick on a newly created btrfs partition. I did not change any parameters during installation, just went through it. So all the settings, including multipath, are default.

Here is th output of hwinfo --short:

I just see that there is a newer version of the ISO image on https://download.opensuse.org/distri...ap/15.0/live/:
    openSUSE-Leap-15.0-KDE-Live-x86_64-Snapshot17.9-Media.iso
Perhaps I should try this one.

Open bug report. Apparently installer misdetects multipath. You will need to attach at least yast2 logs (https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Report_a_YaST_bug). It would be helpful if you kept your current installation for some time in case more details would be needed.

I could solve the problem by (additionally) installing from openSUSE-Leap-15.0-KDE-Live-x86_64-Snapshot17.9-Media.iso. This image was available since 29-May-2018. It seems I was too much of an early bird when downloading 17.7

Now all other OSes were detected and included into grub.cfg

arvidjaar, I still have the 17.7 installed, but do you still think I should create a bug report? The bug was obviously fixed in version 17.9.

Ok, I was too optimistic. During the installation all worked fine but now the same problem occurs.
    Time for a bug report.

It looks as if the grub menu can be updated from the installer, but not from the running system.

You should be able to boot the installer to the rescue system, mount your partitions, do other mounts needed for rescue, then chroot into your system to rebuild the grub menu.

Yes, that will get tedious after a while. So report that bug, and hope that it is quickly resolved.

That's confusing. For all I know Live Leap media do not support installation. What exactly do you mean when you say you "installed" it?

As far as I know, they use the NET installer.

So how exactly do you install? I just booted Live 17.9 and I do not see any "Install" boot menu.

There's an "Installation" icon on the KDE desktop. I haven't tried the other flavors, and I haven't actually attempted an install.
