Default More Difficulty installing 15.0 on btrfs online

After correcting my typo I am stuck on the instruction

/mnt/var/cache can already exist and could be the same directory as /var/cache. To avoid data loss, move it:

    mv /mnt/var/cache /mnt/var/cache.old

Then says it cannot move /mnt/var/cache to /mnt/var/cache.old as "Device or resource busy"

That is what happened on the previous upgrade, when I had to just not do any of the btrfs stuff but i worry that this will eat into disk space by creating snapshots.

    Any advice?

    If you're following SDB:System Upgrade,
    It needs to be fixed.
    I noticed this awhile ago...
At one time it was more clear that the instructions you're following apply only to upgrading from openSUSE 13.2 and earlier but more recent contributions and the theme change bury those 13.2 references deeper and make them hardly noticeable.
Changes are necessary to clarify and probably reverse this upper section with the bottom section almost everyone should be following (How many people aren't already running some version of LEAP or TW before upgrading?).

When upgrading from LEAP (any version) or Tumbleweed,
You should skip down to the next major section and start executing the steps under "Running the Upgrade."

    And then Enjoy.

The problem I am having related to btrfs only. Are you saying this is wrong? And there is nothing to do wrt btrfs? It certainly did not work in the last two upgrades (42.1->42.2->42.3) on this laptop

I had noticed in this thread that you seemed to be acting without first gathering information.
That approach is problematic, best to know if you have a specific problem before acting.

    So,
Before <assuming> that you're running low on disk space in your root partition,
you should run the command I provided to <know> whether that is your problem.

Really not sure why you think I did not gather information first. I have upgraded computer many time and read the instruction first.

You have not provided a command to me but let me assure you the disk is about 50% used, leaving over 200Gb for upgrading. The other two machines (with ext4) I updated had less disk available.
I know a reasonable amount about computers but admit I do not understand btrfs but it is what openSuSE recommended when I first had the two laptops in question, which is why I have it. I never suggested I was low on disk.

So I repeat the question; is it save to continue without playing with /var/cache etc, or should I just not upgrade or should I await some insight?

The command I provided displays your the amount of space you are using and what is available in a BTRFS partition.
I didn't see that you had either run that command or viewed info in some other way.

If you had and I'm mis-reading, I apologize.

After the change in documentation this issue is closed as far as I am concerned.

    On to the next issue!
