Both my desktop PCs have the latest updates installed (KDE desktop). Since a recent update, resume from suspend fails on both machines and leaves me with a blank screen and no way of recovering except to press the reset button.
After trying unsuccessfully to find a cause, I decided to revert to the previous kernel (ie. from 4.4.120-45 to 4.4.114-42). To my surprise that seems to have worked.
I have no idea how to fix the problem other than selecting the old kernel when booting. Any ideas gratefully received.
I reported this as bug 1087047. It’s possible that an update to drm-kmp-default for kernel 4.4.120 may be to blame.
I was asked to test a new version of drm, which so far seems ok. I believe an update will be available soon.
