Hi
The port your connecting to may not be designed for the HDD power
requirements.. the SSD will possibly work better in the caddy...

Re: Laptop freezes due to second hard drive
I successfully swapped the drives.
The grub config broke and now boots to grub shell.
After manually booting, it ends in rescue shell from where I logged in as root and found the same errors in dmesg logs.

Hi
Not seeing the old error, or did it move to ata1?

Hi
I would suspect it is, if you look at the output of hwinfo --disk to see what's attached to what (SysFS Device Link).
So this new output is from the SSD?

Re: Laptop freezes due to second hard drive
Hi
Is ncq enable in the BIOS... sounds like disabling that may resolve the issue;

(acc. to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...9/comments/126)
Now the errors seem to have gone.
Thanks for the assistance.
