Hello,
I am currently having a problem with audio jack on my Alienware 15(2015) edition. I am working out of a fresh installation of OpenSUSE LEAP 42.2 KDE.

alsamixer seems to pick up when the headphones are plugged in/not plugged in, but instead of switching the output from laptop speakers to headphones, all volume remains on the laptop speaker only.

Basically the laptop speakers are on at all times, and when headphones are plugged in, the alsamixer changes "picks up" the headphones being plugged in and changes volume, but headphones don't make any sound, just the laptop speakers.

I tried following
https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Intel-HDA_sound_problems
YAST did not create a 50-sound.conf

cat /etc/modprobe.d/50-sound.conf

cat: /etc/modprobe.d/50-sound.conf: No such file or directory

When I create the file, it doesn't seem to work. At least with
options snd-hda-intel model=z71v position_fix=1
# u1Nb.Iok8MET6hsF:82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) High Definition Audio Controller
alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel

According to
https://www.notebookcheck.net/Alienw....136667.0.html
the soundcard should be
Soundcard Creative CA0132 @ Intel Lynx Point PCH - High Definition Audio Controller

I appreciate your help
