I've got the exact same thing on Tumbleweed.
yesterday my wireless stopped working for my personal account.
i switched to root, and was still able to connect. then I didn an update and root was locked out as well.

The Security menu in the applet is empty when i setup a new connection.
Using wpa_cli, I can set wpa-psk, yet it's not stored, and still doesn't work.

When i start wpa_supplicant manually it does works (wpa_passphrase set in wpa_supplicant.config).
The running dhclient wlan0 sets an IP, and netconfig static DNS gives me full access to the network again.

Just ran another zypper up and dup, new kernel but still doesn't work...

This is quite a show stopper...

Submitting a bug report is the best course of action here.

BTW, I assume you can also use the ncurses NM connection editor (nmtui-edit) to create the wireless encrypted connection without issue?

woah! no i didn't know that one.
I just gave it a try and it works as expected!
So it's only the X11 applet then...

I'll file a bug for this, but first:
    THANK YOU!

Sorry to bump this thread, but this bug has been driving me nuts because eduroam stopped working for me and I cannot get it to work again. Did you file the bug report? If yes, can you link it please?

sorry for the late reply, i was a bit busy and struggling with the network doesn't really help.

the nm-tui cli binary works for non enterprise security, not for the enterprise one needed for for instance eduroam.

i'll add this to the link posted here, thanks for that

Since this is a one off experience, I'd like to see the repos configured:
    Code:
    zypper lr -d
and a statement about the method used to upgrade/update Tumbleweed.
