Thread: No Wi-Fi security available in NetworkManager-connection-editor?

  1. #1

Question No Wi-Fi security available in NetworkManager-connection-editor?

I've not used the connection-editor for some time now.
    My version NetworkManager-connection-editor-1.8.6-1.1.x86_64

If I want to add a new Wi-Fi connection I can not select any Wi-Fi security. There is only "None" available.

    What's the problem?

    My interface:

No such issue here. How did you upgrade your TW install?

When you create a New Connection,
You should first scan for SSID your system can detect.
And then when you select a particular AP,
The connection should be analyzed for the particular security required.

Did you go through these steps?
If, for instance you didn't scan for networks then NM won't know to enable WiFi security.

It is a hidden network. So I can't scan.

The text console editor provides the options. And I also know how to edit the config files. Just want to make sure if it is a known problem.

I'm not aware of any such issue. Can you verify that your repos are correct/appropriate, and the system is in a consistent state?
    Code:
    zypper lr -d
    Code:

I doubt this is hardware related. The OP mentioned that the ncurses connection editor behaves as expected - it's just the graphical NM connection-editor that's not displaying the wifi security options. (I'm running openSUSE Leap in a VM and no wireless interface, and even then one can use the connection editor can still create a wifi connection with security options offered as expected.)

So for me the Question is:
Is the Card supported by iwl4965

    Hi everyone,

I have the same symptom, but if I change in my router the Security Mode to Disabled I can connect without any problem, but this is not the solution that I want.

    Best Regards,
