How do I making desktop sessions stick?
I'm Working with some old laptops running 32-bit TW. Until a couple of
weeks ago, they worked fine using the plasma desktop. Much to my
surprise, even with less than 4GB of ram they chugged along but my luck
ran out finally and the graphics got to be too much. Switching to the
lighter weight desktop environments (IceWM and LXQt) brought them back to
life but the default DE got changed to IceWM and I can't seem to make
that change to LXQt which I prefer - I have to reselect it manually every
time I log in.
How/where do I change that default DE to make it stick?

Did you try to set DEFAULT_WM="lxde" in "/etc/sysconfig/windowmanager" (or just yast2 -> /etc/sysconfig-Editor -> Desktop -> Window Manager -> DEFAULT_WM)?
