Default Curious about AMD RX 570 or RX 580 on OpenSUSE

    Hello everyone

I wanted ask about experiences and information about how well AMD RX 570 and RX 580 work on OpenSUSE. I am not interested in getting out the last out of the hardware. Performance for Civilization 6, Hearts of Iron 4, Anno 1404 and the like. I prefer AMD for several reasons, for example how they handle features like Freesync (making it a standard) compared to Nvidia, who tries to cash in on monitor manufacturers. Secondly, is there also such a Problem with Qt/KDE like nvidia/nouveau has? If possible, I prefer open source drivers.

    Cheers and thanks

I have two machines (one will eventually be my new dev machine) that have RX560/4Gb (Polaris21), TW/Plasma5 on both. I do very light gaming and some videos every now and then, mostly I'm testing for a new dev environment. Very stable and excellent multi-mon performance in X. The cards are very quiet because even under full load, the fan rarely spins up. Of course, the 570/80 will draw more power/make more heat.

My only complaint (very minor) so far is that setting the fan speed to 0 still results in 900RPM.

Thanks a lot, that sounds great! Especially that multimonitor works great, that is something that I don't have at the moment with my nvidia optimus based laptop, at least not with the things I've tried. The capabilities of a 560 is probably also enough for me. Nice to hear that everything is smooth, so none of the issues that Qt and Nividia (at least) nouveau have :-)
