Xbox controller is not working anymore in Steam
Hi,
yesterday I played some games fine in Steam with my Xbox controller but today is not working anymore. I have tried different games.
What could be? How can I check it?
Thanks

Re: Xbox controller is not working anymore in Steam
Hi
If you run the command dmesg and/or lsusb -t do you see the controller connecting and connected (lsusb)? Tried a different USB port?

Yep, I tried a different usb port.
Code:
lsusb -t/: Bus 04.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=xhci_hcd/4p, 5000M
/: Bus 03.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=xhci_hcd/4p, 480M
|__ Port 1: Dev 2, If 0, Class=Human Interface Device, Driver=usbhid, 12M
|__ Port 1: Dev 2, If 1, Class=Human Interface Device, Driver=usbhid, 12M
|__ Port 2: Dev 6, If 0, Class=Vendor Specific Class, Driver=, 12M
|__ Port 2: Dev 6, If 1, Class=Vendor Specific Class, Driver=, 12M
|__ Port 2: Dev 6, If 2, Class=Vendor Specific Class, Driver=, 12M
|__ Port 2: Dev 6, If 3, Class=Vendor Specific Class, Driver=, 12M
/: Bus 02.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=ehci-pci/2p, 480M
|__ Port 1: Dev 2, If 0, Class=Hub, Driver=hub/6p, 480M
/: Bus 01.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=ehci-pci/2p, 480M
|__ Port 1: Dev 2, If 0, Class=Hub, Driver=hub/6p, 480M
|__ Port 1: Dev 3, If 0, Class=Wireless, Driver=btusb, 12M
|__ Port 1: Dev 3, If 1, Class=Wireless, Driver=btusb, 12M
|__ Port 3: Dev 4, If 0, Class=Video, Driver=uvcvideo, 480M
|__ Port 3: Dev 4, If 1, Class=Video, Driver=uvcvideo, 480M
I suppose that the controller is that one in the port 2.
The dmesg is too big, so: https://paste.opensuse.org/87128343

Re: Xbox controller is not working anymore in Steam
Hi
This looks like it;
Code:
[ 88.028053] usb 3-2: USB disconnect, device number 3
[ 89.973974] usb 3-2: new full-speed USB device number 4 using xhci_hcd
[ 90.115291] usb 3-2: New USB device found, idVendor=045e, idProduct=028e
[ 90.115300] usb 3-2: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3
[ 90.115303] usb 3-2: Product: Controller
[ 90.115306] usb 3-2: Manufacturer: Holtek
[ 90.115314] usb 3-2: SerialNumber: 08D118C
[ 236.779463] device-mapper: uevent: version 1.0.3
[ 236.779586] device-mapper: ioctl: 4.35.0-ioctl (2016-06-23) initialised: dm-devel@redhat.com
[ 450.650387] usb 3-2: USB disconnect, device number 4
[ 452.733022] usb 3-2: new full-speed USB device number 5 using xhci_hcd
[ 452.874966] usb 3-2: New USB device found, idVendor=045e, idProduct=028e
[ 452.874971] usb 3-2: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3
[ 452.874972] usb 3-2: Product: Controller
[ 452.874974] usb 3-2: Manufacturer: Holtek
[ 452.874975] usb 3-2: SerialNumber: 08D118C
I wonder if it doesn't like the xhci_hcd driver.....
So was there an update between it working and not working?

Yes, there was also a kernel update, I think.

Hi
Wonder if it's the drm-kmp-default package, if this is installed, remove it and see how it goes.

Hi, didn't work but I solve it. The problem was the xboxdrv package, I just removed it. I have installed it in attempt to use the controller in playonlinux.
Many thanks!
