Thread: SMB protocol version

    Default SMB protocol version

    Hi Folks.

I need to know the current protocol version implemented in smbd daemon starting from OpenSuse 13.2. Where can I find such info ?
As a Wikipedia web site writes (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Server_Message_Block), since SAMBA v3.6 samba uses SMB v.2 protocol. Wright ? I then assume that from OpenSuse 13.2 onwards SMB V.2 is used.
I need to solve some problems which arise when using recent OS versions of Fortigate FW which do not enable any more SMB protocol v.1
    Thank.

    Antonio

    Default Re: SMB protocol version

Up until a few months ago (July 2017?) SMB v1 was still supported and enable by default.

Since then, SMB v1 can be enabled but is now disabled by default.
