After Steam update, the games is not launching

I added the problem I the Valve’s github and you can open the steam using

STEAM_RUNTIME_PREFER_HOST_LIBRARIES=0 steam

They suspect that libgcrypt.so.20 is getting dynamically loaded somehow over libgcrypt.so.11 when preferring system libraries. These are ABI incompatible and it may be worthwhile to also bring this issue to the attention of OpenSUSE’s package maintainer for steam.

Still does not work. Aside from that, Steam Controller is not working while running games anymore…

I am having the same issue after the June 1st update. The steam runtime command mentioned above worked maginficently. Lets hope that Valve can fix this before the Steam Summer Sale.

I dont think it might be a libcrypt issue for of my games library only ONE game would launch. That was Victor Vran.

Also on one of my setups the only thing that change was the steam client updating from 10 hours previosuly, in which i was playing a game on that machine via steam. the libcrypto should be resolved with steamtricks and the steam openssl.

Most of the time i just got messages similar to http://paste.opensuse.org/79994724http://paste.opensuse.org/39188822 these. Mainly ones like the Windward one, but nothing about libcrypto.

I have same trouble: my games are launches in Steam but after a second, crashes. I tried to add some extra libraries like in this post but without linking.
I can launch, for example, Faeria without steam successfully but it’s interface’s controls are unresponsible.

is it about to launch Steam like that?

I found something here gameoverlayrenderer.so cannot be preloaded - starting Dota 2 [SOLVED]
they recommend to Downgrade libgcrypt for a temporary fix.

Same problem here launching dota or civ6

I have a similar issue with Serious Sam Fusion that is related to a error with my Nvidia driver. check your terminal for any messages when you run the steam runtime command posted above.

Also worked for me. Well, all I can say is that the game starts. I’ll report back if it runs into further issues.

Is it known if it’s going to be fixed?

Pretty sure you just ran /usr/bin/steam again then tried to add the new command afterwards and that didn’t work. Just run: “STEAM_RUNTIME_PREFER_HOST_LIBRARIES=0” without the quotation marks and nothing else.
