I just ran ‘zypper up’ and after rebooting (my system boots in runlevel 3) I see the login prompt looks like:
<eth_adapter_name>: <LAN IP address>

So far it has always looked like
<hostname> login:
If I disconnect the network cable the <LAN IP address> disappears. I am using Network manager in case this matters.
Why did this happen? Where are the settings for controlling this? Is there a way to remove the new first line?

I see this behavior too. In my case I get two entries, one for every network adapter (LAN and WLAN).
I checked the zypper history of the last two day, but I don’t see any prime suspect.
