Default Upper part of explorator gone, same for all applications

    Hello,

Not sure at all what could have happened.

In any case after a reboot this morning the pc display first Firefox. Then I see that there is no access to any of the controls.

Also, the screens are black, no trace of the used wallpaper. No menu from right click neither.
Confirmed to be also the case with other applications.

    So :
Missing the upper part of their windows.
Not displayed on the task bar (the one with the button allowing access to the menu (applications), there is also the date & time.
    wallpaper gone.

I guess one on the update our applications added yesterday may have been the reason ?

    Any insight would be appreciated.

    Thanks & regards.

Repository priorities are without effect. All enabled repositories share the same priority.

Well, your repos are a mess, and bound to break your system.

    In particular, remove those:

Running "zypper dup" afterwards should bring your system back to a consistent state...

In other words, run these commands:
    Code:
    sudo zypper rr 2 4 5
    sudo zypper dup

    ???
I asked what desktop environment are you using.
    I.e. KDE, GNOME, ...

    OS : opensuse 42.2 leap.
Not really. More a mixture between 42.1, 42.2 and Tumbleweed now...

After using the first set of command (sudo zypper rr 2 4 5)it ask for the root password.
But, it isn't possible to add anything directly on that line.
If using enter the next line is selected (allowing for input) for about 3 sec before :
    Code:
    sorry, try again.
I've been able to input my root password but :
    Code:
if ###### is not a typo you can use command-not-found to lookup the palate that contains it, like this:
    cnf ######
Nor sure how but it has followed anyway.

    Code:
    91 paquets à mettre à jour, 579 à rétrograder, 62 nouveaux, 5 à réinstaller, 39 à
supprimer, 97 à changer de fournisseur.
Taille de téléchargement totale : 754,3 MiB. Déjà en cache : 11,6 MiB. Après
    l'opération, 234,0 MiB d'espace disque sera libéré.

Doing this it will remove some applications (which was the reason I've used others repository, if not available on by default, look out of the box.

Vlc, audacity, clamav, p7zip for the "main" one.
I'll loose them, go with the process then, to be seen.

    No you won't. (unless there's a conflict)
vlc is available from Packman, the other two are in the main repos anyway.

If you see that an *application* is going to be removed, you can safely ignore it. It's likely just a glitch in the package or repo metadata.
It's only *packages* that count in the end.

If in doubt, please post the message.
