Default Chromium 56 text selection colour

Chromium 56 does not honour the system text selection / hi-light colour.
Up until Chromium 55 the system hi-light colour was used but now the hi-light colour is white. The result of this is that when selecting black text on a white background the text simply disappears.
The problem seems to be specific to Chromium as Chrome 56 still uses the system selection colour.

I'm seeing this in Plasma 5.8.3
    Is it just me?

    Here's a couple of images that demonstrate the issue . . .

The first image is of text selection in Chrome 56 (which works as expected)

In the second image Chromium is being used and I have selected exactly the same text (which now cannot be seen)
