Thread: Cannot start any of YaST's configuration modules via YaST or directly

Default Cannot start any of YaST's configuration modules via YaST or directly

I've been having this issue for a few weeks now where if I try to open any of the YaST config options my pointer changes to the loading symbol and then nothing happens. I was hoping that an update after some time would just fix the problem but that doesn't seem to be the case. If I try to open one of the config modules manually using a shortcut the root password prompt comes up as per normal and after entering it, again nothing happens.

If I run YaST in the CLI everything works as per normal within the terminal, so I'm thinking that maybe the problem is something to do with actually displaying the window? I'm not sure how I should go about troubleshooting this issue so any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated. If I can post any logs or any outputs of commands that may shed light on what the issue is, please ask and I'll post the results.

    Thanks in advance.

You might run the following which re-inspects your machine and should generally restore your machine's internal integrity(besides updating your system components)
    Code:
    zypper dup
    If the above doesn't work,
    Then you should post
    - your repo list
    Code:
    zypper lr -d
    - Although the above should provide some indications, what your Desktop is, and whether you installed your Desktop from a special repo (or otherwise).

    Hi Tsu,

    Sorry for the late reply.

I have run zypper dup however the issue is still present. The output of zypper lr -d is below:

    Code:
Repository priorities in effect: (See 'zypper lr -P' for details) 97 (raised priority) : 1 repository
          98 (raised priority) : 4 repositories
          99 (default priority) : 6 repositories

Default Re: Cannot start any of YaST's configuration modules via YaST or directly

I may have found what is causing the issue, I created a copy of the YaST log (y2log) and then tried running one of the YaST config modules. I then compared the difference between the copied log and the real one. I've pasted the output below:

    Code:
    diff y2log y2log.old

Does anyone know specifically what this means? It looks like the issue is with qt.

    Thanks

It's caused by Infinality. That's incompatible to the latest freetype libraries in Tumbleweed.

Remove repo#9 and run "zypper dup" again, that should fix it.

    Hi Wolfy323,

I have removed the repo and re-run zypper dup. It has fixed the issue!

Unfortunately removing Infinality has made my text look worse but I guess I'll just have to deal with it or find an alternative. Thank you both for your help.
