    Hey
You inspired me t check this (thanks). Before this I had 7.1.4.xxxx with many problems. But never the problems you display.
Now there are a newer version 7.1.8.3036 that works really well. No errors yet, tested for a couple of hours.
    Installed from google's repository http://dl.google.com/linux/earth/rpm/stable/x86_64
    Installed through yast2.
Even thou not the same errors as you, an update helped with previous problems.
ASUS G46VW running openSUSE LEAP 42.1, Windows 8
Samsung NP300V3A running openSUSE LEAP 42.1 Windows 7
Some EEEPC running openSUSE LEAP 42.1, "Server" running sshfs, (mini)DLNA, NFS
Raspberry Pi, Weezy, openSUSE 13.1 (two different SD-cards)

downloaded google-earth-stable_current_x86_64.rpm from google and installed via YaST

    old PC system
    Code:

Hi Folks and thanks for the feedback on your experiences .

It's an intermittent problem for me, sometimes it does happen and sometimes it doesn't. I'm waiting for the debug packages to be built for the 5.8.5 LTS repo so I can do a proper backtrace, apparently a powers the be oops in forgetting to build them. I was running it (GE 7.1.7.2606) in 13.2 and no issues but have only in the last couple of days move to Leap so it's bug shake down time, perhaps it's old cruft in my home causing an issue or specifically a 5.8.5 problem but we'll see. Just for the record I'm using a GTX 750 and Nvidia proprietary 375.26.

For reference I've raised a bug report at KDE

    https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=375256

    Cheers
