Hi i need help Ive been wanting to try out tumbleweed linux for a while now, but i cant find a tumbleweed torrent , and for some odd reason , its insanely big, over 4 gigs, I’m not sure as to why it is so big, ive never seen a linux this size. i really would like a torrent because my internet is not stable via a long ass download of over 4 gig .iso , it cuts out around 1-2 gig, and obviously ive been wasting my Data in trying to get it .Are there any tumbleweed administrator bosses out there that can help me ?

Tumbleweed still serves Live images. They’re ~1 GB and have a live installer.
I wanted a xfce tumbleweed linux torrent for my deluxe highly calibrated laptop, but the problem is i think the torrent links are dead, they never download
and i cant use net install because i dont have Ethernet cable , i only have wifi

or you can download Gecko linux that is based on opensuse tumbleweed. The file is only 1gb and its p reconfigured. Basicly its open suse tumbleweed but with better pre configurations.

I haven’t checked recently, but awhile back the local library systems (yes plural) in my county blocked all Linux websites without explanation.
Maybe they determined that people who download from these sites are bandwidth hogs (yes, they are if they’re d/l isos and updating all the time)
In any case, the OP should know that a Net Install will work over WiFi with not problem compared to Wired… As long as the Provider doesn’t block.
But, I do absolutely endorse using Torrent for downloading files like distro images because of its vastly better efficiency, built in file integrity checks, ability to pause/resume and more… all which are not available in a standard http or ftp download (although can be enhanced using a download manager).
The OP should also know that TW updates will all be massive and released every couple weeks or so…
If bandwidth is an issue, he should seriously consider one of the other releases… Like LEAP… So that updates are released continuously and amount to only about maybe one third as much downloading (maybe even a lot less) compared to TW.

oh you cant download tumbleweed torrents yet , they dont function when you click on them
geckolinux is much more ideal for me so that i wouldnt have to deal with codecs,after i discovered geckolinux it made me realize that its pretty trivial to even use regular opensuse ,and i tried the gecko linux xfce but couldnt get it to work , ive tried many versions of them but none of them works on my amd laptop, not even the leap static ones , i just get a black screen after a bunch of text loads, manjaro doesnt work for me either,but they do work all work on my intel laptops , but its not what i want because my amd laptop is much more powerful, and i need all the power i can get when i run krita . Unfortunately if its not one thing its the other , i get into even more problems, thanks though lol!
over the past few days or so ive tried all of the gecko studio tumbleweeds , and even the gecko studio leap suses all day long, , but noone of them work on my amd laptop. I know this might seem blasphemous , but none of the manjaro flavors worked either, only the ubuntu distros , and centos7 works , so i have a major hardware problem , so i went with linux mint xfce, thanks anyway !rotfl!

Out of interest is the is new AMD laptop, if so wonder if it’s the GPU…? With the switch to the newer Xorg and dropping fglrx support has caused a few headaches for some…
Do you know if there are modern opensuses with older Xorg ? i never did like fglrx, they are trash , ironically the xorg opensource amd drivers always have much better perfomance than fglrx atleast for my amd laptop.
the problem I’m pretty sure its my gpu with opensuse , first i thought it had to do with UEFI ,but it works on my older corei3 laptop where i have it installed,at first all i knew was Leap and Tumbleweed, i never knew gecko linux existed until now, i love how its pre-configured and i can test the os without having to download a huge unnecessary 3 to 4.7gb file and installing it ,its very convenient and i get exactly what i want.

my main laptop is a lenovo thinkpad edge e425 Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E425 specifications and reviews
its my most powerful laptop becuase of its seperate graphics card and i was hoping to put suse on it and use it as my main for krita
i can use centos6, and all of the 'buntus, but i want to use opensuse because it has a green lizard icon , and it just has a better linux experience imo.
do you reckon that the opensuse 13.1 evergreen would be the way to go for my specific laptop ? is it impossible to run newer opensuse on my laptop ?
