    Default Nvidia, unsupported screen resolution

    Hi, sorry for my English.
I have nvidia gtx 1060. Setup opensuse 42.2 and install driver. But after boot and load X-server, i see black screen. I think driver set very high screen resolution. How can i modify xorg.conf for fix it? Do i need write correct ModeLine in Monitor section? Or not? If yes, how can i get correct ModeLine for my monitor?

gtf will calculate new mode line for a given set of x y and refresh rate. xrandr will show current setting or allow a one time change. For permanent you must got to the X config

But I doubt the problem is wrong resolution.

/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d is where the X config files are

Did you move to 42.2 by upgrade or fresh install? Where did you install NVIDIA driver from? What ver?

The nvidia-kmp package does not match the kernel note the version numbers

either install the hard way or wait until after official 42.2 release

    That's irrelevant.
The kernel module is compiled when the driver is installed, irrespective of the kernel version.

And the module should continue to work when a (minor) kernel update is installed, it should only break if you switch to 4.5 e.g.

Though, there may have been incompatible changes, since 42.2 has not been released yet.

So as a first step, try to reinstall the kmp package:
    Code:
    sudo zypper in -f nvidia-gfxG04-kmp-default
    Also, please post /var/log/Xorg.0.log.

Default AW: Nvidia, unsupported screen resolution

Maybe try to use another DVI-Cable.

    Or as root:
    Code:
    nvidia-xconfig --allow-empty-initial-configuration
