Thread: No OpenGL after kernel update - OpenSuse 13.2

Default No OpenGL after kernel update - OpenSuse 13.2

    updated yesterday to kernel 3.16.7-45-desktop.

    Now cannot get OperGL .

When I try and set it in System settings -> Desktop effects -> Advanced . I can only get XRender to select/work. I have tried setting OpenGL 3.1, OpenGL 2.0 and OpenGL 1.2, but only Xrender gets activated.

Is this a bug or merely a feature?

    thanks

Known problem, the latest kernel update is broken:
    http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1007035

Adding your user to the "video" group should fix your graphics driver issue, but other things still won't work.

Better uninstall kernel-desktop 3.16.7-45.1, and wait for the fixed kernel update.
Or select the older kernel in the boot menu (under "Advanced Options").

many thanks Wolfi323, added the video group and back working. Will keep an eye on the bug you linked to.

    thanks again

The fixed kernel is in the update repo meanwhile.
