Thumbs down Leap-42.2: KDE: Strange scattering around Mouse Pointer or within the edited line.

    Hallo,

I installed the Leap42.2 Release Candidate from Begin of October....

I use a NVIDIA GeForce 750Ti Graphics adapter (CUDA-5.0) together with the nouveau driver.

    I have an Intel 6(x2) Core i7-3930k @3.2Ghz with 24Gb RAM
    I use the KDE Plasma 5.7.95 with a Kernel-4.4.21-2-default

    I have a strange scattering
    - within regular KDE-Widgets, around the mouse pointer e.g. after clicking on a Button.
    - or when editing text: (e.g, Firefox/Kate)
    - I have a partly scattered light blue or white blocks of 1/4 th rd f a letter -height.
    - the text scattering is better when using another text editor like kate, but it is stil there.
this touches the only the current line
after pressing return, the old line is shown OK, without no delay.

When I edit in an Edit box, (like this text within Firefox), the actual line is scattered.
This makes using a edit (in the firefox) browser a little unconfortable.

The visualisation of the fonts seem to make problems!
Am I using a wrong OpenGL Compositor?

This might have been already reported in:

Bug 937626 - [nouveau] after 20150709 factory update KDE desktop flickers has bad redraws
Bug 953566 - KDE flickering and compositing broken

    Willy

Thumbs up Re: Leap-42.2: KDE: Strange scattering around Mouse Pointer or within the edited line.

I managed to fix the issue described above....

    1.)
After downloading and installing the CUDA-8.0 Toolkit
    (cuda-repo-opensuse132-8-0-local-8.0.44-1.x86_64.rpm)
I switched from nouvea to nvidia driver.

2.) as a first reaction, I could not enter the XWindows environment an more....

    3.)
I had to change the displaymanager from "sddm" to "kdm"
    by modifying the file: /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager.

    It seems to work now...

    No scattering any more.....

    Yours,
    - Willy
