no time display

In a fully updated Tumbleweed none of the plasmoids (analogue or digital) nor SDDM display time. I cannot identify potential missing libraries

It has crept on to two laptops - different brands - advice on where to look gratefully received

I had this yesterday. Right click where the clock should be and use the clock options to add the correct time-zone.

weird, the date and time was showing “set automatically” but choosing London as well solved it - thank you

I really wasn’t being sarcastic before , I was just expressing my interpretation of your “evidence”. However perhaps you would now permit me a really sarcastic “Told you so”.

BTW it’s the hardware clock that is normally set to UTC; on a Desktop machine the system clock is generally set to local time. My mistake was the foolish assumption that someone who has been on this forum for at least eight years and with more than a hundred posts was not a beginner.

@gerrugavigan: Please keep to one thread when discussing an issue like this. I’ll close your other thread with a referral to this one.

May I add the general remark that by far most of the people here that try to help, do so with the best intentions and in the best way they can. While it is always possible that something is misunderstood in a medium like this (Forums, where one is not face to face, nor has the same first language, turn around times may be large due to not everyone having sleep at the same time, assessment of otherone’s knowledge level maybe wrong, etc.), always start from the point that the intentions of the other are to help.

Try to unravel misunderstandings in a kind way.
