After recent update - DNS could not be found

I recently did a system upgrade that required a computer restart, I think the kernel was updated recently (now I’m using 4.7.4.1-default).

Since updating my system, I can still connect to the WiFi and router via ethernet cable, but neither of them allow me to connect to the Internet. Pinging google.com results in ‘Name or service not known’.

My Internet works - I’m typing this out on my mobile using my WiFi to connect to the Internet. It’s there something I need to do with respect to the update to get this to work properly?

I appreciate all your help in advance.

Cheers,
C

I have the exact same issue. I’ve tried setting the DNS servers manually, using a purely manual configuration, a pure IPv4 or pure IPv6, and even restoring my whole system from before the update, but nothing does it. I just cannot have internet on that computer at all. Great. Who needs internet anyway on a work computer?

Check out the solution posted in the other related thread: Not able to corectly connet to wireless network - Network/Internet - openSUSE Forums

I fixed it by adding my routers IP address to my /etc/resolv.conf file

Try to rename “/etc/resolv.conf” and
Restart network manager , “systemctl restart NetworkManager”

Good luck!
