Thread: configure desktop issues

  1. #1

    Default configure desktop issues

10 months of experiments with leap42.1 but not high motivation, to switch from openSuse13.2:

Configure Desktop>>Regional settings gives for all different topics only a list of countries. I want to change KiB to KB (Metric), but I can only select a country, which does not select the right metric.

Now, I have tried to use in console

    kcmshell4 language

what a surprise: the old KDE configure for the regional settings comes up and I can set Metric Units.

But when restarting dolphin, there are MiB etc.

Up to now, I don't like to switch my 13.2 to Leap, because there are quite some issues with the new plasma 5 desktop

Do I completely miss some points?

KDE's custom locale stuff has been dropped in favor of using Qt's facilities, which in turn just uses the standard system locale stuff that any other desktop/toolkit/application uses.

I have no idea whether one can change between KiB and KB this way, dolphin (or KDE in general) seems to have no option for that either.
I only found this bug report:

That only changes KDE4's settings, which are not used by anything else than KDE4.

You could use konqueror or dolphin4 though, those are KDE4 applications and should respect those settings.
