Default Graphical KDE screen has been replaced by another

    Hello
I installed the leap 42.1 on a PC of a 5 year old and it seems that some things are not going well.
One thing is that I can not turn off the kwalletmanager, then tried to remove this application by Yeast
I noticed that were removed other important packages, but I thought the Yast knew what he was doing and would certainly reinstall these important programs, perhaps because he removed his interaction with kWalletmanager.
But when restarting the PC graphical KDE screen has been replaced by another, I can not remember his name (perhaps something like ICE)
I again installed the Leap, keeping intact home folder, but KDE screen did not return.

How do I return to use KDE?
How do I do for kwalletmanager not bother me anymore, even after disconnecting it?

    Thanks in advance

    Bad idea.

Btw, you can turn off kwalletmanager. But there are two versions, the KDE4 and the KF5 one.
You'd need to disable the KDE4 one in KDE4's settings...
Although the KDE4 version should only be started if you actually use KDE4 applications (that use the wallet).

YaST does know what he's doing.
Plasma5 (the KDE requires kwalletmanager5, so YaST removed Plasma5 as well after asking you.

That's likely IceWM, yes, which is used as fallback if the wanted desktop session is not available.

I again installed the Leap, keeping intact home folder, but KDE screen did not return.
    A fresh installation?
    Then KDE/Plasma5 should be installed.

Make sure you have plasma5-session though.

How do I return to use KDE?
Maybe you just have to choose it at the login screen...

Actually it is not kwalletmanager that "bothers" you, but kwalletd.

You can set an empty password for the wallet to not having to enter a password.

Or you can disable it in systemsettings/systemsettings5. (systemsettings is in the package kdebase4-workspace-addons, which is not installed by default)
But then you'll have to e.g. enter your WiFi password every time you want to connect (unless you configure to store it system-wide).

    For this scenario,
    Should not be too difficult.

Open /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf in your favorite text editor.
If you've connected to your access point before, you should be able to identify the XML code block that describes that connection, and typically your password should be stored there either in clear text or hashed. If hashed, see
    Code:
    man wpa_passphrase
Disable using kwallet in Network Manager and with a properly configured wpa_supplicant.conf you should be able to connect using the saved password without using kwallet.

Haven't done this for years, so assuming nothing has changed...

Ok, you are right, I was using wallet, not kwalletmanager

When I made the new installation of Leap, I'm sure I chose KDE, then surely I have the plasma5 installed.
But I keep intact the home folder
Is there some setting in my home folder that causes IceWM up instead of KDE?

The IceWM login screen does not offer options to choose other graphics modes
How do I start the KDE graphical mode? Before or after being logged in IceWM?

What DM is active? normally SDDM is the one set up by default for KDE desktop in LEAP

    Yast-Systm-/etc/sysconfig editor --- Desktop - display manager - displaymanager

    Allows setting.

I suspect that when you yanked out KDE's guts things defaulted back to a simpler setup

Now I no longer have to know what DM was active.

I reinstalled the leap. Before installing, I deleted ALL other partitions except the "home" and "/" partitions. After this cleaning, I ran the installer Leap and chose to format the partition "home" and "/"

The installation worked normally, as always. But now the boot goes to a black screen with the following text:
Minimal BASH-like line editing is suported. For fist word, TAB
lists possible commands completions. Anywhere else TAB lists possible
    device ou file completions.
I can leave this screen with the "exit" command and the system rises. But still shows for a few seconds the splash screen IceWM system (this is amazing)
After that, the Leap runs normally, but when you restart the black screen reappears

How do I get this black screen and the IceWM not appear anymore?
