    Default Baloo search not working

Baloo search isn't working under Dolphin V15.04.0

    I'm using
    OpenSuse V13.2-64
    KDE Platform Version 4.14.9

I installed Desktop Advanced Search, still doesn't work.

    In Dolphin/controls, I have Show-Hidden-Files turned on.
In Desktop Search, I have Enable-Desktop-Search turned on.

I searched this forum for a solution and have some questions.

Q1) I can't find the location of the Baloo files, ~/.kde4/share/apps/config/baloofilerc

What does " ~ " mean with respect to file system?
    Regards,

In Bash, the tilde (~) character means the current user's home directory.
For me, this would mean /home/ab, meaning the path above would point to
    /home/ab/.kde4/share/apps/config/baloofilerc

The search in the KF5 based dolphin (15.04) doesn't work with a KDE4 Baloo.
    That's probably your problem.

So install baloo5 (and in particular baloo5-file), and it should work, though I think kio-extras5 needs to be installed as well.

If not, remove ~/.local/share/baloo/ to force baloo5 reindexing everything.

Btw, using the latest packages from KDE:Applications in a KDE4 desktop isn't supported any more really.
You should switch to Plasma5, and use KDE:Frameworks5 to get the latest versions there as well, if you haven't done so already.

baloo5's configuration (or KF5's in general) is in ~/.config/, not ~/.config/share/kde4/...

Got it, ~ means my home directory.

I'm assuming that deleting the Baloo index file will solve my Baloo search not working problem.

    Directory ~/.kde4/share/apps/config/baloofilerc is not there.

In fact, directory ~/.kde4/share/apps/config is not there.

Is there any other place the Baloo index file could be?

    Yes.

    Directory ~/.kde4/share/apps/config/baloofilerc is not there.
It should be ~/.kde4/share/config/baloofilerc, not ~/.kde4/share/apps/config/baloofilerc.

But for the KF5 version (baloo5), it would be ~/.config/baloorc.

That's the *configuration* though, not the actual index.

In fact, directory ~/.kde4/share/apps/config is not there.
    That's to be expected.

Yes, as I wrote, the index file is in ~/.local/share/baloo/, that was already the case in KDE4 times.
