    I never needed to do this with previous versions. But configuration works and now everything seems to be fine again!

    Yes, the draft folder is set up by default when a mail account is created.
    But as you wiped out the akonadi database, the configured folder wasn't found any more (that's a shortcoming of Akonadi/KMail, the folders are referenced by ids in the database...).

    But configuration works and now everything seems to be fine again!
