Thread: Package for Postgresql 9.5

  1. #1

    Default Package for Postgresql 9.5

Is there any specific reason that there is no package for PostgreSQL 9.5 for openSUSE?
    I was trying:

without any success. Other rpm distributions (RedHat, CentOS, Fedora) have packaged it for a long time.

    Hi, welcome to the forums.

openSUSE is a community distribution; it simply means that none of the volunteers who maintain packages have got round to doing it.

    Thanks for response.
Is it possible to access SUSE repositories? Maybe they will have PostgreSQL 9.5 packaged.

nope that's a commercial product that charges access to it's servers but according to this
    http://www.postgresql.org/download/linux/suse/
    Cross distribution packages
Generic RPM and DEB packages that provide a server-only distribution are avaliable for some 32 and 64-bit Linux distributions. These packages provide a single set of binaries and consistent packaging across different Linux distributions. They are designed for server installation where a GUI is not available and consistency across multiple distributions is a requirement.

Download the packages from OpenSCG for all supported versions.
so why not download and install the prebuild rpm from postgresql:

If you submit a "Feature" bug request to https://bugzilla.opensuse.org, I suspect that someone will be on it fairly quickly (if it's not already in progress).

Today's April 2, only 2 days after official project release...

    If you're <really> in a hurry...
There are some cross-platform binaries you can install (or build from source)
