WTF installing googleearth breaks ssh

I tried installing googleearth both as an ordinary user and as root and when
I try to run it I get an error of

…/googleearth-bin: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libssl.so.0.9.8: undefined
symbol: EVP_camellia_128_cbc

unless I install it as root and run it as root (obviously not a good idea).

The next thing I find is that attempting to log on to my server to do some
maintenance I get the same error message from ssh

ssh: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libssl.so.0.9.8: undefined symbol:
EVP_camellia_128_cbc

I tried reinstalling libopenssl and libopenssl-devel but still got the
error. Eventually I just ran the uninstall script in googleearth and shh is
now Ok.

Has anyone else hit this with googleearth and is there a way of installing
it without screwing up ssh?

I’m running openSUSE 11.0 with KDE4 4.2 (Factory)
