Is it possible to install Windows Live?

I have downloaded windows live programs (ie…mail, messenger.etc…)I
cant seem to get wine to install them I have even tried in console but
no luck. Being new to linux i dont know enough about virtualization i
only want to install windows live mail as i have had a hotmail account
for may years and dont want to change over to gmail.

Maybe you could try virtualization like VirtualBox, it’s free, pretty
easy to install and to add new gest os like Windos Xp. Just search for
it via Yast, if it’s not there you have installations available on
‘Linux_Downloads - VirtualBox’
(http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads).

Messenger works well (or as well as with any client side for the
protocol) in Pidgin, which probably came with your box and supports a
dozen or so protocols all at once. I think you’ll be happier with
Pidgin than the native client (my whole computer-illiterate family
is…) and it will work on Linux right now. The e-mail clients in Linux
(Evolution, Thunderbird, etc.) should also meet your needs I imagine.
Another benefit is a lot less overhead running native tools that do the
same thing.

Good luck.

i access/use my old hotmail account with Firefox running in openSUSE,
works good…

and, as mentioned by others, Pigdin beats the M$-Messenger six ways
from Sunday.

you wrote “(ie…mail, messenger.etc…)” what would be that “etc” that
FF and Pigdin would miss?? (having not used M$ in years i wouldn’t know)
