Default How to downgrade from KDE 4.1.2

Is there an easy way to get back to preferred KDE 3.*. I have upgraded
to version 4.1.2 and cannot get on with it at all.

If not, how do I get rid of the shadow effect surrounding graphics in
    desktop icons?

    Regards,
    Budgie2

Goto yast software management select Patterns from the filter dropdown
select the KDE 3 base & desktop install.
Then logout and at the login screen select KDE 3 from the sessions type
options located at the lower left.
    Log back in.

Many thanks. Will try this as I cannot see any benefits from the
    upgrade.
