Default Problem with the gspcav1-20071224 web cam driver

After downloading the 'gspcav1-20071224 web cam driver'
(http://http://mxhaard.free.fr/download.html) to use a Logitech QuickCam
Chat in openSuse 11.1 I was not able to complete this 'outlined
    procedure' (http://http://www.tuxfiles.org/linux...ftinstall.html).
When I entered the configure command {./configure} in the Gnome
Terminal, the following message appeared onscreen:

bash: ./configure: No such file or directory

The Read and Install file states:

Well, first you need to compile the driver (see below), then you need
    to make
sure that -the v4l infrastructure is set up- and then load the driver.
    After
you've done that, any v4l enabled application, such as spcaview, gqcam,
    xawtv,
    gnomemeeting, camE etc should work.

How is the v4l infrastructure set up? Will then the remaining tar
commands work properly in openSuse 11.1?

    That is:

    # ./configure
    # make
    # make install

Your kind assistance will be highly regarded.

Try to run it as root not as a normal user. Maybe that will help
By the way don't forget to install gcc, make and kernel-source.

P.S. You need to unpack the driver first and then open terminal in that
    folder

    The gspcav1.20071222.tar.gz site is http://mxhaard.free.fr/download.html

and the outlined procedure site is 'tuXfiles - the Linux newbie help
    files, tutorials, and tips' (http://www.tuxfiles.org/)

The exact outlined procedure site is 'Compiling and installing software
    from source in Linux'

Could you please outline how to "install gcc, make and kernel source"?
