Two dvd drives: autodetect media

Hello folks,

I’m running my openSUSE 11.0 with 2 dvd drives:

Code:

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 22. Dez 11:33 /dev/dvd -> sr0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 22. Dez 11:33 /dev/dvd1 -> sr1
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 22. Dez 11:33 /dev/dvdrw1 -> sr1

Unfortunately, most of my players (vlc, kaffeine, smplayer) are
configured for only one device (currently: /dev/[dvd,sr0]), except
Dragonplayer which can autodetect the drive containing the media.

I’d like every app to behave like Dragonplayer, but since I do not know
how Dragonplayer manages this issue, I think it is better to know how to
assign a fictive device to the currently used dvd device. I think this
is a case for udev, isn’t it? Well, is it the only solution? How can I
fix my issue, in practice?

Thanks in advance.

kind regards,
Quentin Denis

PS: has SUSE never been able to manage this kind of issue in the past?
I discovered this problem for the first time, maybe because I just added
a second dvd drive…
