Input Text in Hindi/Gujarati

Hi,

I’d like to be able to occasionally input text in Hindi and Gujarati,
and I’ve heard that this can be done in SCIM.

I’ve installed scim, skim, and the associated tables, and I’m able to
start scim through the command line, but I can’t type any hindi/gujarati
characters.

I’m able to change the KDE keyboard layout but the Inscript kbd layout
(?) is a bit difficult to use.

Can someone please help me properly set up scim?

BTW, I’m using openSUSE 11.0, KDE 4.1.3

Thanks,

Haven’t used SCIM myself but ‘Baraha’ (http://www.baraha.com/) runs
great through Wine.
