Default Cant seem to keep rid of unwanted apps.

I recently installed leap 42.1 with LXDE I removed some apps that I dont want or use and when I did an update it reinstalled those apps. The apps in question are:
firefox hexchat pidgin claws-mail atril gcolor2 mtpaint brasero cheese gmixer totem uget libpurple*

I do not need these programs nor do I want them How do I keep openSUSE from reinstalling with a new update?

I use google chrome so no need for firefox
I don't use any chat program period
I don't need the graphic apps they want me to have I use gimp and veiwnior
I don't even have a cd rom on this machine why do I need brasero?

This is aggravating every time I remove them and update puts them back. I don't use the update icon app I manually update with zypper.

However if someone knows how I can permanently disable pk-update-icon that would be appreciated as well.

My version of Software Management doesn't seem to have a no load option or they called it something else now

In KDE plasma5 and previous versions Yast2>Software Management - on that software you don't want you right click and choose "Taboo - never install". If the software is needed for dependancy issues you will get a dependency warning. You can also do it with
    Code:
    zypper al
    Try
    Code:
    zypper help al
    for help how to use.

well if these apps are coming back do to dependency issues maybe I should just stick with another distro. Seriously I feel like this is Microsoft all over again. I can no longer dictate whats on my machine now and OS does it.

Well it is not a dependency it is the base install pattern which recommends the installs. You must lock them out to stop updates from reinstalling. It is not hard just lock them out right click the package and it is obvious how. If you simply never want any recommended programs installed in Yast-Software management - options -check Ignore recommended packages for already installed packages.

My thought is if you don't want to use a program don't use it it just takes a little disk space and does not use resources unless you run it. If you feel you must house clean compulsively use the above.

Awhile back I determined the reason why these apps "come back" is because they're listed in a Pattern.

I don't know if blacklisting them will work (maybe).
Generally, it might work to simply remove the Pattern... That has worked for me.

The other approach I've taken is to simply install a light Desktop or no Desktop and install apps one by one.

Simply ... I have had thorough success with the "taboo" setting in Yast.

Sorry I haven't had the chance to get back before now. Unfortunately work takes precedence over my stuff lol.

ok I'll see what I can do or at the very least keep them from showing in my menu. I have been a user of openSUSE for a good many of years because of its stability and abilities.

I do thank you all for your time and efforts in helping me

    One last thing

Is there a way in oSL 42 to keep pk-update-icon from running at all with out physically going into the task manager and killing it? I would like to be able to do it from the bash file that assist in setting up my system.
