Thread: OpenSuse Leap 42.1 Packman repository error

  1. #1

Question OpenSuse Leap 42.1 Packman repository error

This just started today during an update. I went into Yast to do a refresh on the repositories and now this comes repeatedly:

    "Download (curl) error for 'http://packman.inode.at/suse/openSUSE_Leap_42.1/repodata/repomd.xml':"

    It was working yesterday.

    Hi
    The mirror is broken, use a different one;

Yes, it seems to be down at the moment. However, I changed to
    Code:
    3 | packman | packman | Yes | ( p) Yes | Yes | 99 | NONE | http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/misc/packman/suse/openSUSE_Leap_42.1/
    and that is woking currently.

    Code:
    zypper ar -f -n packman http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/misc/packman/suse/openSUSE_Leap_42.1/ packman

the broken mirror has highlighted just how often the plasma 5 updater is checking for updates regardless of its settings.
Until I switched to a different mirror yesterday I was getting notifications from the updater three to four times an hour that it couldn't reach the packman repo . . . . despite being set to check only once a day.

Yep, it looks like it's down. I'm sure it'll be back as soon as they
    resolve the problem.

For crying out loud, why don't they post something on their website if they are having these issues? Can you imagine how many keyboards have been pounded to bits by frustrated fists since it went down?

    Here's their main website: http://packman.links2linux.org/mirrors

The mirror in question is in Austria. Not much of a welcome is it?

    Hi
First understand that the packman infrustructure is not part of openSUSE, if there are issues it's best to take them up direct with packman admins either via Mailing List or IRC, likewise if a mirror is down, talk to the mirror admins and/or packman folks to advise. The only thing community/forum members can do is confirm 'yes there is an issue'....

    You'd have to ask them.
