how to obtain traditional menu?

Hello:

I found that the new KDE start menu in Leap 42.1 is a little inconvenient. The “favorite program” menu is gone. I am just wondering is it possible to switch back to the traditional KDE menu like that in openSUSE 13.2?

thanks a lot

Yes, but it does display the “Favorites” in the main menu on the left side.

Yes.
Just right-click on the icon and choose “Alternatives…”.
Or add a second one to your panel or desktop if you want.

The “traditional” KDE4 menu is called “Application Launcher”, and there is a (new) full screen launcher called “Application Dashboard” too.
But note that “Kickoff” (i.e. the default KDE4 menu, “Application Launcher”) still has some problems (all of them should be fixed in Plasma 5.5, where it will use the same backend code as the new “Kicker”/“Application Menu”).

Thanks for the hint, I was missing the kickoff menu. Already thought about patching and recompiling kde stuff…
