Thread: I can't save my desktop changes because krunner stopped.

Question I can't save my desktop changes because krunner stopped.

    Hello guys,

I'm new about Linux OS and its distros and I'm using openSUSE 42.1 Leap.

When I change my desktop's wallpaper and Layout I can't save changes (on Plasma5 and others). Every time I reboot my changes are gone.

Every time I start openSUSE my "krunner" application crashes.

I also use openSUSE dualboot with Windows 10.

Here is my krunner crashed log :

    Code:
Application: krunner (krunner), signal: Segmentation fault

What changes are you trying to make and how?

You might try Gnome desktop unfortunately KDE plasma 5 is not fully cooked yet ie there are problems. I'd recommend openSUSE 13.2 it is rock solid

The crash is in QtQuick, which often is related to the graphics driver (i.e. broken or insufficient OpenGL support).
What graphics card are you using, and did you install some additional driver?

Please install Mesa-demo-x if it's not installed, and post the output of:
    Code:
    glxinfo | grep render
You can select IceWM at the login screen if your KDE desktop is unuseable.

    Regarding your wallpaper problem:
How exactly are you trying to change it?
    This should work.

You could also just try to drag and drop an image file from dolphin e.g. to your desktop.

Also try to create a fresh user account and see if the problems happen there too.

I'm using NVidia Geforce 635M and 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller(i7).

Here is the output of the command:

    Code:
    direct rendering: Yes
        GLX_MESA_multithread_makecurrent, GLX_MESA_query_renderer,
        GLX_MESA_multithread_makecurrent, GLX_MESA_query_renderer,
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI Intel(R) Ivybridge Mobile
        GL_ARB_conditional_render_inverted, GL_ARB_conservative_depth,
        GL_NV_conditional_render, GL_NV_depth_clamp, GL_NV_packed_depth_stencil,
        GL_ARB_conditional_render_inverted, GL_ARB_conservative_depth,
        GL_NV_blend_square, GL_NV_conditional_render, GL_NV_depth_clamp,
        GL_OES_fbo_render_mipmap, GL_OES_get_program_binary, GL_OES_mapbuffer,

So this is an Optimus system?

You are using the intel chip. Please do not try to install the nvidia driver...
As intel's driver has some bugs, this might help:

    I had the same problem.
I disabled compositing (shift+alt+F12) and the screen started responding.
Remember to disable compositing at startup in KDE screen settings to make this persistent.

Thanks for helping me.However, that doesn't work for me :/

And I'm still having this error at startup everytime I start the openSUSE.
