Talking Smooth Scrolling on Leap 42.1?

    As the thread title reads...

I've not yet had the chance to upgrade my openSuse 13.2 desktop to Leap 42.1, but I would like to ask (as has been asked billions of times on the internet if you search "smooth scrolling linux") is it possible to implement this, or is this implemented anywhere in Leap 42.1? (and able to toggle on)

I'm currently running openSuse 13.2 on an iMac, with an apple magic mouse, and the scrolling issue (while it may be nothing to you guys) is actually one of the main reasons I have been avoiding using this OS and I continue to use OS X (even thought I installed Suse so that I could move away from OS X as I am growing tired of the limitations, and I have become a bit addicted with linux). I know this sounds ridiculous... I've tried using some of the methods that are avail for ubuntu and other linux distros with no success on Suse... I really want to keep using openSuse, but the choppy scrolling makes me cringe, it feels like I am using a pc in 1998...

If this has been fixed, I will insert the LEAP dvd right now and begin a fresh install.

    Any tips?

    Which desktop? Which video driver?
Where does the scrolling problem happens? Everywhere? Firefox? File browser?
How many lines is the mouse wheel set to jump?

I did have scrolling problems in FF but after setting a couple options in advanced settings it's quite smooth in KDE 4.14.9

openSuse 13.2 Gnome -- I've tried the kde DE but I prefer the gnome environment... it is still present in kde...

yeah, everywhere, I tried setting it with firefox, opera, chromium, midori, no luck.

I understand that it's nonexistent when you are using the terminal and etc, but when doing everyday tasks such as watching movies on netflix or surfing, the choppy scrolling just hurts...

It also sucks when I'm coding in eclipse.

I don't know because xinput doesn't return anything, maybe I am not typing it in correctly in terminal?

Also, is it possible for me to make the mouse scrolling faster? not to compare and contrast with OS X, but again -- in OS X if I just flick my finger up, the pages scroll super quick, as opposed to in Suse, I have to consistently keep scrolling and the pages move little by little by little (and choppy at that)

again, xinput not returning anything so I don't know where to look for that stuff...

    Thanks!

Nouveau is the open source driver.

If your machine was not from apple, I'd suggest that you add the nvidia repo and install the correct drivers for your video card, but I'm not familiar with Apple machines nor gnome desktop, so I'll leave the problem to wiser minds.

And last but not least: welcome to the forum!

    Muito obrigado!

It is from apple, but i'm pretty sure the smooth scrolling issue still stands, as well as editing the scrolling speed <---- how do I do these on Suse?

As far as I know the NVIDIA drivers should work on Apple hardware. But then again I don't run Apple hardware.

    If you want to try

    https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:NVIDIA_drivers

Note be sure you know how to boot to rescue mode just in case it freezes
