Question PDF previews in Dolphin - option not available Plasma 5.4

I have installed the KDEgraphics plugin and others but there's still no option in Dolphin's preview list to make PDFs or postcript appear [dolphin preferences>general>preview]. I have followed recommendations on how to make this work, but still can't get it to. I store thousands of books on a drive and used to be able to see the book covers in Dolphin previously (before upgrading to Plasma 5). In Gnome3.16/nautilus it works, but KDE/Plasma is my preferred environment. I need this functionality for my work.
Other filetypes preview without problem, docs, djvu, epub, ods, etc
Any suggestions how I can get this?

PDF/PS previews are indeed missing using kdegraphics-thumbnailers 15.08.1

I think the problem here is that you are using a KF5 based dolphin, but kdegraphics-thumbnailers is still KDE4 based.
PDF/PS previews work fine here on 13.2 with kdegraphics-thumbnailers 15.08.1 in the KDE4 based dolphin 15.04.

Unfortunately the KF5 port of kdegraphics-thumbnailers has not been released yet.
You could try to install it from KDE:Unstable:Extra, but I'm not sure if the dependencies will be ok:
    http://software.opensuse.org/download.html?project=KDE%3AUnstable%3AApplications&package=kdegraphics-thumbnailers

If this isn't installable, you could also try to install the version from my repo:
    http://software.opensuse.org/downloa...-thumbnailers5
This installs it to /opt/kf5/, but it should work with the standard packages too I think (although I haven't tried).

Or use Konqueror or Krusader as file manager, those are still KDE4 based.

    Oh, sorry.
I just noticed that it's actually the other way round:
openSUSE already ships the (unreleased) KF5 based version of kdegraphics-thumbnailer in Tumbleweed, but Dolphin is still KDE4 based (version 15.04.3).

So either wait until the next Tumbleweed snapshot which will contain dolphin 15.08.1, or install that version from KDE:Applications meanwhile:
    http://software.opensuse.org/downloa...ackage=dolphin

This is all getting rather messy...

Personally I'll wait on the next snapshot.

    Thanks.

Well, the problem is that most of KDE Applications 15.08 was stuck in staging/review for nearly 2 months, while kdegraphics-thumbnailer 15.08.1 apparently made it through earlier.
It has been accepted to Factory last weekend, but since then no new snapshot has been published.

OTOH, upstream has not released KF5 based kdegraphics-thumbnailers yet (although it has been ported), so even there the situation is that current dolphin (15.08.1) is not able to show PDF/PS file previews.

Just tried a 'quick and dirty' way...

    downloaded "kdegraphics-thumbnailers-4.14.2-1.1.x86_64.rpm" (from 13.2 repo)

installed OK, now have PDF/PS previews... doesn't (yet) appear to have broken anything else.
