Default Firefox - Flash Player anomalies

Problems running Flash Player in Firefox

    after zypper dup to openSUSE-release-20150908-1.2.x86_64

when a teletxt page was requested for loading in firefox the following message appeared

"A plugin is needed to display this content."

accessing videos eg. BBC or FilmOn worked ok

in addition to no access to teletext pages, videos eg. BBC or FilmOn return the following

    or

"You need to install Flash Player to play this content."

ooops -- please ignore the above

fault finding this morning firefox was started from a terminal and all worked correctly

again tried from a desktop icon and the same symptoms occurred

after deleting the icon and them creating another the icon allowed firefox to run normally

    time wasting again?!

    cheers

    fwiw

after starting firefox from the command line any icon pointing at firefox only works during that session
    (allowing videos to be accessed)

after a reboot running firefox from a previously generated icon runs into the problem of flash player not being recognized

    cheers
