    Question clamAV

I am using openSUSE 13.2 KDE and I installed clamAV through the software manager but I can't find it anywhere on my computer even though it shows that it is installed in the software manager. How do I find it without using the terminal? Where is it?

I assume (I never have used it nor any other AV program), that it is not a GUI program. That seems logical to me because I assume that is is often run from the batch using crontab (often as root, when you want to check your system). And you can not run GUI programs from the crontab.

But you can of course create an item in your KMenu, which then will open a terminal window with the program starting in it.

And o yes, when you want to know "where it is":
    Code:
    which clamav
    may tell you.

You can of course always use YaST > Software > Software Management; Search for the package and then choose lower right for the Tab File List.

    Hi
As root user (and from a terminal) you need to run freshclam to update (this is normally setup as a cron job to update), then you run clamscan as your user for your files. There are some GUI's one is clamtk.

Well, you see, it is a terminal program, so no menu entry.

You can find what programs are available in the clamav package this wa,
    for instance:

    Code:
    cer@Telcontar:~> rpm -ql clamav | grep bin/
    /usr/bin/clamav-config
    /usr/bin/clambc
    /usr/bin/clamconf
    /usr/bin/clamdscan
    /usr/bin/clamdtop
    /usr/bin/clamscan
    /usr/bin/freshclam
    /usr/bin/sigtool
    /usr/sbin/clamav-milter
    /usr/sbin/clamd
    /usr/sbin/rcclamav-milter
    /usr/sbin/rcclamd
    /usr/sbin/rcfreshclam
    /usr/sbin/updateclamconf
    cer@Telcontar:~>
So you have to call "clamscan" with the appropriate options. And "man
clamscan" will list the instructions :-)
