    Me too.

I have one user with "media.gstreamer.enabled=false" and another set to
true, with FF 40. I know for sure that gmail works fine with the second
user; I have not tried recently with the first one (because that's the
purpose of the second, to use gmail with it).

I can verify some other time if the first user (with
    "media.gstreamer.enabled=false") still works.

I'll check. Normally I use flashblock, but I'm unsure about the second user.

Or... maybe... my google talk plugin is not that recent. I'll verify
    that, too.

Thank you I will put this info on my web page notes... with credit to you of course. http://www.trcompu.com/ is the main page then click on Computers at the top and select SuSE Pages from the column on the left, then select SuSE 13.2. IF you are NOT faster than me ... it will be there. It is 6:30am Phoenix time ... give me an hour. (You will find that it actually gets placed on the SuSE 12.2 page but that is another story.)

Yes, I have everything from packman.
    This feature does not work.

I just updated Tumbleweed (KDE), which updated Firefox to 40.0, and I am in my Gmail and Google account apps without any issues.

    Checking about:config I see
    • media.gstreamer.enable-blacklist = true
    • media.gstreamer.enabled = true

I'm not saying that gstreamer wasn't the issue, or that you don't have an issue. I'm just curious about the cause.

I do have the FlashDisable Add-on which allows me to toggle whether Flash is turned on or off and usually it is off. While it doesn't make sense, I would be curious if it could be Flash + gstreamer as an issue?

Of course the latest update may have fixed this issue, too.
The only Google feature that I have had the problem with is Gmail. I was having problems with Flash(It claimed it was out of date -AND- NOT supported on Linux anymore!!) -but- Firefox 40 seems to have fixed that. That is one reason I would like keep version 40.

    Thanks,

No, that's unrelated to the update.

There is a file, locally created, that keeps track of the plugins and
complement versions. Sometimes the data there is wrong, and then FF says
that the Flash version you have is older than what you really have, and
will not allow it running. The solution is to delete or edit that file.

    It is a known problem.

Of course, an update forces recreating the file, and the issue gets
    corrected.

Flash runs well on any FF version.

The feature of having an internal mp4 player.
Yes, it is a problem if it does not work.

I did some testing with Firefox 40 and gmail, gstreamer and ffmpeg
I enabled desktop notifications in gmail, send myself a few emails and had gstreamer enabled
for me gmail has no issues with gstreamer!
    you can always disable gstreamer
    Code:
    media.gstreamer.enabled;false
I disabled gstreamer to see if I can get Firefox working with ffmpeg, with changing a few preferences firefox can use ffmpeg for mp4 decoding, I tested it on several sites including youtube and vimeo with flash and webm (unless disabled youtube defaults to webm) disabled. to disable webm set
    Code:
    media.webm.enabled;false
other sites use webm so disable at your own risk, personally I don't like webm.

to get Firefox to use ffmpeg in about:config change these preferences:
    Code:
    media.fragmented-mp4.ffmpeg.enabled;true
    media.fragmented-mp4.exposed;true
    media.mediasource.enabled;true
    media.mediasource.mp4.enabled;true
I think you might be using gstreamer from the oss repo, check and see if packman is set as the system repo
    https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Vendor_c..._Vendor_change
you should set packman as the system repo via yast.
or use the above tweak and use ffmpeg for mp4 decoding (you still need ffmpeg from packman)

Alllllrighty now... I never expected this much response to my original question -but- I forgot that openSuSE is a great community -and- very helpful. Many thanks to you all.

So far I get the consensus of opinion that I should get the Packman version of gstreamer. I'll do that and get back to you.

    Thanks,

Well... nope! I changed 23 items from OS to Packman on gstreamer and it did NOT help. Still crashes at logon to Gmail. I even did the Windows thing ... a system restart. Nope. Haven't done the power off yet but I gota go to work.

    Thanks,

it's not gstreamer on it's own, and changing some packages might break more things, you'd need to dup to packman (or use yast and set packman as the system repo)
    how to dup to packman
    Code:
    zypper lr -d
    see packmans's number
    Code:
    zypper dup --from <insert packman's number>
I've had similar issues (not with firefox but kaffeine and vlc) when mixing packages from both the oss repo and packman, I prefer using yast but I've dup-ed to packman with zypper too.
the graphic cards driver might cause this, what gfx and or driver do you have?
