The usual thing is to test

    1. a new .mozilla
    2. a new user profile/account
    3. roll back firefox

I've same* oS, KDE and firefox versions, there was no change here. Perhaps you are using a custom skin that should be updated (or disabled)?

    * supposing it's x86_64...

    I tested,
this is the old profile tabs dimensions:
tab firefox old profile Version 38.0.1
    1 a new .mozilla folder
tab firefox new .mozilla folder Version 38.0.1
the same is 2 a new profile account
this is the chromium tabs to see the differences, the firefox ones was like this
    tab chromium Version 42.0.2311.135 (64-bit)
I noted that also google chrome has larger tabs than before, not as large like firefox but larger, and also I noted that the used fonts in firefox and chrome are larger tha the size12 in the settings, it seems like the screen resolution was 800x600 only in firefox

I have to test to rollback firefox..
    other suggestions??
    manythanks, bye pier

Default Re: firefox after upgrade huge tabs and other things SOLVED

    I found this:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1061791
    that says this:
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the filter box, type or paste pix and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) The layout.css.devPixelsPerPx preference usually is set to -1.0 which means use the system default. You can change that to 1.0 for 96-dpi dispay and see whether that is what you prefer. And you can increase the size from there in increments, for example, 1.1 for a global "110%" zoom.
Please be careful not to set this value to something tiny, as it can be hard to recover from that.

    it solved
