Question 13.2 mate desktop nm-applet problem

    Hi folks!

I need help with mate desktop's network manager.

I use 0.9.10 nm-applet, when I'd like to add a new vpn or any other connection as a normal user, I get an error message:

    insufficient privileges to add connection..

I've tried many solutions to fix this problem without success.

in opensuse 13.2 there isn't netdev group so I don't know which group handles the network connections

    I tried this fix:

    http://blog.spanger.org/?p=1099

I checked that I've these autostart processes

    /usr/lib/polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1
    /usr/lib/notification-daemon

As I know these are the dependencies of the network-manager

    Please help

    Thx!!

Do you not get the popup asking for root password?

I have noticed that when you try to edit or add a connection it does not pop
to the front but hides itself under the window and so cannot be seen..

Might not be your problem but worth looking behind other windows.

    Hi!

I doesn't pop up any root privileges asking window. For example I try to add a vpn connection, make my settings, after I push the add button immediately pop up a window that says: insufficient privileges.

I guess some components are missing..

Yep, I am not familiar with mate so cannot comment much but have you tried
    running the setup as root?

I seem to recall that I installed "mate-polkit". Maybe give that a try (if it is not already installed).

I don't use a VPN, so I can't test. I was able to configure WiFi without problems.
    openSUSE Leap 15.1; KDE Plasma 5;
    testing Leap 15.2Alpha
